A Guide to Dubai’s Top 10 Artsy Restaurants

Celebrated annually on April 15, World Art Day serves as a global reminder of how creativity enriches the human experience. In a city like Dubai, this artistic spirit is not confined to a single date or a traditional gallery wall. It is woven into the very fabric of the dining scene.

The following destinations offer permanent aesthetic brilliance, proving that the intersection of fine art and gastronomy is a year-round affair. From heritage-inspired mosaics to contemporary installations by world-renowned designers, these fifteen restaurants provide a constant sanctuary for those who appreciate design as much as a well-crafted menu.

Amaya

Perched within Dubai Mall, yet worlds away from the rush, Amaya serves as a sanctuary of biophilic design. The space operates as a living gallery at the edge of art and lifestyle. At the heart of the restaurant stands the iconic bear sculpture by internationally renowned artist Joseph Klibansky, a bold, reflective piece that anchors the room. Every detail is thoughtfully designed, featuring layers of textures and subtle installations that create a narrative of visual discovery. While the Burj Khalifa and the fountains provide a cinematic backdrop, the interiors remain a balanced sanctuary, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the surrounding beauty. It is a destination where dining is inseparable from the art that lives within it.

La Niña

Located in DIFC, La Niña is a theatrical celebration of Iberian and Latin American heritage. The interiors are a sensory journey characterized by intricate azulejo tiles, rich velvet drapery and stained glass that bathes the space in a warm glow creating a storied atmosphere that feels like stepping into a hand-painted portrait of the Old World. Rather than a static dining room it feels like a curated set piece, where every architectural detail, from the ornate flooring to the textured walls, tells a tale of seafaring history and cultural fusion. It is a destination that proves traditional craftsmanship can be just as avant-garde as modern sculpture.

CQ French Brasserie

The Barsha Heights outpost of CQ French Brasserie, located within the Grand Millennium Hotel, reimagines the rhythm of Parisian life through a modern, design-led lens. Designed by Yasmin Farahmandy, the space serves as a layered environment where art is instinctive to the atmosphere. A curated collaboration with Art Painting Lab has woven expressive pieces throughout the interior, from hand-sketched corridor drawings capturing moments of brasserie life to re-colored vintage French posters in the dining room.

Heritage elements like striped awnings, mosaic floors and brass accents are balanced by a deep palette of burgundy, deep greens, warm creams and muted reds. At the heart of the restaurant sits a Parisian-style island bar, crowned by the “Golden Rooster”, a symbol deeply rooted in French culture and central to the brand’s identity.

Blume Dubai Mall

Blume redefines the lifestyle lounge by weaving a visual narrative inspired by the romance and charm of the Silk Road train carriages. The interiors are a masterclass in botanical design, where lush greenery meets refined, train-inspired motifs that evoke the golden age of travel. It is a space that feels like a serene garden tucked away from the mall’s busy momentum, utilising organic textures and soft lighting to create a retreat that is as much a scenic experience as it is a culinary one.

WooHoo

Located in Downtown Dubai, WooHoo is the city’s first AI-powered restaurant, where art is approached through the lens of interactive technology. The environment features large-scale LED visuals and spatial audio controlled by an AI agent that manages “parallel universes” of content. Every installation is built to evolve, with the restaurant’s AI even generating its own visual content overnight to ensure a unique atmosphere for every visit

Dinner Tales

True to its name, Dinner Tales at Sofitel Hotel Downtown turns the table into a canvas. The two-hour dining journey utilises advanced 3D projection mapping, a concept the venue calls ‘Dineamation’, to transform the tabletop into a living canvas where masterpieces by legends like Michelangelo, Banksy, Picasso and Warhol spring to life.

The seven-course menu, served in the Seven Painting rendition of the experience is a literal interpretation of art history, inviting guests to interact directly with their meal. Highlights include painting a version of Starry Night on a chocolate bar with edible colors, adding mock tears to a Picasso-inspired ceviche and being guided through the narrative by an interactive Mona Lisa. It is a choreographed fusion of culinary craft and theatrical illusion, ensuring that every bite is part of a larger artistic story.

Sexy Fish

Located in DIFC, Sexy Fish is an unapologetic showcase of high-end contemporary art and mid-century glamour. The restaurant is adorned with works by world-renowned masters, featuring bronze mermaid sculptures by Damien Hirst and shimmering fish lamp installations by Frank Gehry. Every surface, from the intricately patterned floors to the coral-inspired accents, is a testament to a maximalist design philosophy that refuses to be ignored. Sexy Fish Dubai’s interiors have been designed by long-term collaborator Martin Brudnizki Design Studio with a mid-century glamour and opulence, underpinned by genuine hospitality.

Gloria Osteria

Bringing the cinematic flair of 1970s Milan to DIFC, Gloria Osteria is lit by 135cm Murano chandeliers that bathe the room in a nostalgic glow. The space is peppered with archival fashion memorabilia and reflective mirrors, creating a Sicilian garden atmosphere that is remnant of a choreographed set piece. With its lush greenery and vibrant textures, the restaurant functions as a carefully composed frame.

The Big Chill Dubai Hills Mall

A soulful nod to the golden age of cinema, The Big Chill is a gallery of vintage film posters and retro memorabilia. The brick-clad walls and soulful lighting offer a cosy, artsy retreat that celebrates the visual history of the silver screen. Dubbed as one of the most beautiful restaurants in Downtown Dubai, the space is a tribute to human creativity, adorned with captivating paintings and literary treasures. The design reflects a deep passion for sophistication, blending French classics with the rich spirit of the Middle East to create an refined atmosphere. The name itself, meaning “kiss,” symbolises unity and love, values that permeate the meticulously detailed environment. From the bar serving cocktails inspired by literature to a menu of over 40 thoughtful dishes, every element is designed as a celebration of life’s simple pleasures.
