Nazcaa Review: A High-Rise Take on Nikkei Cuisine

Situated on the 12th floor of Address Dubai Mall, Nazcaa offers a breathtaking vantage point directly overlooking the iconic Burj Khalifa and the glittering Downtown skyline, a view that truly sets the stage for the evening.

From the very first step inside, Nazcaa had me completely captivated. While Dubai has no shortage of dining spots with stunning skyline views, Nazcaa unequivocally rises above the crowd, leaving a lasting impression from the moment you step onto its terrace.

Nikkei Cuisine

Beyond the stunning panorama, Nazcaa excels in its unparalleled reinterpretation of Nikkei cuisine. This fascinating culinary style, born from the late 19th-century Japanese diaspora in Peru, is a sophisticated fusion of Japanese and Peruvian influences.

The setting perfectly complements this inventive menu; the interiors are sleek, adorned with gold motifs and sculptural details that draw inspiration directly from Peru’s ancient Nazca civilisation and its mysterious desert etchings. Creating an ambience that is sultry, elegant and buzzing with energy, especially on the expansive terrace.

Beyond Dining

Nazcaa isn’t just about the food and views, though. It elevates the dining experience into a nightly spectacle. I was particularly impressed by their curated live performances every evening. While each night offers something special, Friday nights are truly transformed by their signature Tribal Night. The performance channels the raw energy and mystique of the Amazon.

Watching dancers in intricate regalia move with hypnotic precision, seeing fire dancers cast flickering shadows across the skyline and feeling those deep, primal tribal rhythms reverberate through the open air was incredibly captivating.

The Food

Our evening kicked off with a procession of exquisitely crafted aperitivos. Starting with a silken guacamole made with yuzu and fresh cilantro, it arrived accompanied by perfectly crisp corn chips. It was a zesty, creamy flavour bomb that immediately awakened the palate. Next, the Salmon & Avocado Tartare presented itself as a delicate masterpiece, artfully plated and dressed in a bright sudachi soy, with tiny bursts of bubuarrare adding a delightful, unexpected pop of texture.

The Cold Platter, a chef’s selection of sushi, was nothing short of a masterclass in balance and precision. Each nigiri and maki piece showcased a beautifully restrained seasoning, allowing the pure quality of the ingredients to speak volumes. Alongside a side of grilled broccolini, charred to smoky perfection, introduced a welcome earthiness and subtle bitterness that beautifully complemented the lighter, oceanic dishes.

The Star of the Night

For the main course, we shared the Corn-Fed Baby Chicken, a generous portion lacquered in a Yakitori glaze and paired with a subtly sweet potato puree. The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender. What truly elevated the dish was the accompanying vibrant chimichurri, whose fresh, herbaceous tang cut through the richness without overpowering the dish.

The Finale

Dessert arrived in the form of a Coconut Parfait, chilled, delicate and bursting with tropical notes, topped with a zingy passion fruit granita, a luscious raspberry coulis and a shimmer of edible glitter. It was surprisingly light for such an indulgent treat, perfectly refreshing, not too overly sweet and a visually stunning endnote to a memorable meal.

The Verdict

My evening at Nazcaa was an experience I won’t soon forget. It’s a place that masterfully blends the refined artistry of Nikkei cuisine with a vibrant, immersive atmosphere. From the breathtaking views of the Burj Khalifa to the captivating rhythm of the live performances, every element is designed to create something special for guests. If you’re looking for a night that engages more than just your palate, a visit to Nazcaa offers a thoroughly enjoyable escape. I would give it an emphatic stamp of approval.
