Luxury watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne has unveiled a new version of its acclaimed Zeitwerk Date, now available in pink gold with a refined grey dial. This latest release brings a warm, elegant hue to the brand’s most progressive mechanical timepiece, blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovation.

Digital Time Display with Mechanical Precision

First launched in 2009, the Zeitwerk redefined horology with its mechanical digital time display. Unlike conventional watches, it features jumping numerals that switch precisely 1,440 times per day. This is made possible by a patented constant-force escapement, which ensures consistent energy delivery and exceptional accuracy.

A Unique Ring-Shaped Date Display

Introduced in 2019, the Zeitwerk Date added a distinctive date ring that encircles the dial. Crafted from printed glass, it displays the numerals 1 to 31, with the current date highlighted in red. A small segment beneath the ring advances at midnight, offering a visual cue of the month’s progression. This intuitive design allows wearers to see how far the month has moved at a glance.

Elegant Design Meets Functional Innovation

The new pink gold version retains the sophisticated grey dial, enhancing both legibility and style. The hour and minute apertures are aligned horizontally for logical readability. A pusher at 4 o’clock allows independent hour adjustments, while another at 8 o’clock enables date correction, both designed for ease of use and mechanical precision.

The Signature Time Bridge

A defining feature of the Zeitwerk family is the time bridge, crafted from German silver. This structural element frames the digital display and subsidiary seconds dial, creating a seamless connection between the watch’s external elegance and its internal mechanics.

Powerful Performance Every Minute

At the heart of the Zeitwerk Date is the manufacture calibre L043.8, a manually wound movement operating at 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour. With a 72-hour power reserve, twin mainspring barrels, and a fly governor to regulate energy, this calibre exemplifies A. Lange & Söhne’s commitment to precision engineering.

Craftsmanship You Can See

The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the 516-part movement, showcasing artisanal details such as the solarised ratchet wheel and the engraved brand name. These elements reflect the brand’s dedication to horological artistry and mechanical excellence.

A Contemporary Expression of Tradition

Anthony de Haas, Director of Product Development, describes the Zeitwerk Date as a “distinctive, contemporary face” of A. Lange & Söhne’s watchmaking legacy. At midnight, the synchronised switching of the time and date displays creates a moment of mechanical theatre, an embodiment of force, precision, and elegance.
