TAG Heuer Unveils Three Monaco Timepieces Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix

Released ahead of last weekend’s race in the south of France, the three new iterations are a celebration of speed, heritage, and cinematic legacy.

In the lead-up to one of motorsport’s most prestigious weekends—the Monaco Grand Prix—TAG Heuer unveiled three limited-edition watches from its iconic Monaco collection, paying tribute to the brand’s deep-rooted connection to racing. If Lando Norris’ timing into the first corner of the race was anything to go by, it’s fair to say TAG Heuer may have just beaten him to it.

Released ahead of last weekend’s race in the south of France, the three new iterations—the Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch, Monaco Chronograph x Gulf, and the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph 2025—are a celebration of speed, heritage, and cinematic legacy.

This year also marked a milestone for the Swiss manufacturer, as TAG Heuer became the first-ever title sponsor of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco. With the watches taking design cues from the legendary Steve McQueen’s racing suit, this collection further cements the brand’s place in the world of motorsport.

Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch: Inspired by Vintage Stopwatches

The Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch draws inspiration from TAG Heuer’s iconic stopwatches of the 1960s and ’70s. Housed in a 39 mm black DLC-coated titanium case, the watch features monochromatic sub-dials that echo the clarity of vintage timing instruments.

Beneath the hood, the watch is as powerful as anything motorsport has seen. Powered by the brand’s legendary Calibre 11, it is paired with a perforated black calfskin strap—a nod to classic racing gloves. Limited to 970 pieces, this timepiece pays homage to an era that helped shape TAG Heuer’s motorsport legacy.

Monaco Chronograph x Gulf: A Tribute to McQueen

One glance at the Monaco Chronograph x Gulf and something strikingly familiar stands out. The white dial, with its light blue and bright orange racing stripe down the right-hand side, instantly evokes memories of Steve McQueen’s racing suit from the 1971 film Le Mans.

These colours became iconic in endurance racing during the 1960s and ’70s. If that’s not tribute enough to McQueen’s legacy, the watch’s white strap—crafted from Nomex—mirrors the material of his original racing suit. A second calfskin strap is also included, offering added versatility and making this limited-edition piece a wearable slice of motorsport and cinematic history.

Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph 2025: A Showcase of Technical Mastery

The third model in TAG Heuer’s lineup, the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph 2025, showcases the brand’s technical prowess. Crafted from TH-Titanium—a material with a dynamic, light-reactive texture—the 41 mm case features a sapphire bezel and dial that reveal the watch’s intricate mechanics.

At its heart lies the Calibre TH81-00, developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture. It offers a split-seconds complication—a feature sure to be appreciated by racing enthusiasts. Lime-green hands and bold accents give the watch a distinctly motorsport-inspired edge. Each piece is individually numbered and secured with a hand-stitched black calfskin strap.
