Maserati MCPura: A Bold Evolution of the MC20 Supercar

Out with the MC20, in with the MC Pura, Maserati’s latest showstopper isn’t here to play nice

Maserati has officially unveiled the MCPura, a refined and rebranded successor to the MC20 supercar. Debuting at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the MCPura represents a strategic shift for the Italian marque, one that blends timeless combustion performance with modern design cues and a renewed brand philosophy.

What Is the Maserati MCPura?
The MCPura is Maserati’s latest flagship supercar, replacing the MC20 while retaining its core mechanical DNA. The name MCPura combines MC (Maserati Corse) with Pura, the Italian word for pure, signalling a commitment to unfiltered driving performance and design purity.

Pure Combustion Power
Beneath the hood, the MCPura continues to use the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine, delivering an incredible 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant, featuring pre-chamber ignition technology, propels the MCPura from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, with a whopping top speed of 202 mph.

Unlike many rivals such as the Ferrari 296 GTB or McLaren Artura, the MCPura remains a non-hybrid, rear-wheel-drive supercar, appealing to purists who crave raw, analogue performance.

Subtle Yet Striking Design Updates
While the MCPura shares its silhouette with the MC20, it introduces several aerodynamic and aesthetic enhancements, such as redesigned front and rear fascias inspired by the MCXtrema track car, a new twin-spoke wheel design reminiscent of the 1953 A6 GCS, an optional larger rear spoiler for improved downforce, and new colour options including Ai Aqua Rainbow, Devil Orange, and Verde Royale.

While you might think it’s merely cosmetic, these updates contribute to improved airflow, cooling, and high-speed stability.

Race-Inspired Interior Luxury
Inside, the MCPura features a more Alcantara-rich cabin, a new carbon-fibre steering wheel with shift lights (borrowed from the GT2 Stradale), and an upgraded infotainment system with Performance Pages for real-time telemetry.

The minimalist yet luxurious interior reflects Maserati’s philosophy of “elegant restraint,” where every element serves a purpose.

Maserati MCPura Cielo
For those who prefer open-air exhilaration, the MCPura Cielo offers a retractable roof without compromising performance. Maserati has fine-tuned the aerodynamics and heat management of the convertible to ensure identical performance metrics to that of the coupé.

Exclusivity with Customisation
Maserati will build the MCPura in Modena, Italy, with production beginning in September this year. While not strictly limited, the MCPura will be built to order, allowing for extensive personalisation.

Pricing is expected to start around $262,263 for the coupé and $298,576for the Cielo, with final figures to be confirmed closer to launch.

Why the MCPura Matters
In a supercar landscape increasingly dominated by hybrid and electric powertrains, the MCPura stands out as a celebration of pure combustion engineering. It’s a bold move by Maserati, one that honours its racing heritage while offering a unique alternative to tech-heavy rivals.

A Supercar for the Purist
The Maserati MCPura may not reinvent the wheel, but it refines and redefines what a modern supercar can be. With its blend of Italian craftsmanship, motorsport DNA, and timeless design, the MCPura is poised to become a future classic.
