I’ve been using REST’s Evercool Comforter for the past two weeks and I’ll be honest in admitting I went into it slightly sceptical. Cooling bedding is one of those categories that sounds great in theory, especially in the UAE where most of us spend half the year battling the heat and sleeping under aggressive air conditioning. But after a while, a lot of these products start to blur together. Every brand promises temperature regulation, moisture wicking fabrics, breathable materials and better sleep, yet very few actually meet expectations let alone exceed them.

What really set the REST Evercool Comforter apart for me was how I found myself appreciating it in the course of my normal, everyday routine. It wasn’t a dramatic or flashy overnight difference. The fabric feels cool the moment you pull it over yourself, particularly after coming in from the heat or getting into bed at the end of a long day, but without that strange slippery texture some cooling fabrics tend to have. It’s lightweight without feeling flimsy and breathable without losing that cosy comfort you still want from a comforter, especially when the AC is blasting.
Speaking of which, living in the UAE means the AC becomes part of your sleep setup almost year round. Most people still sleep with the air conditioning on, even during cooler months and that usually creates two extremes. Either your room feels too warm and uncomfortable halfway through the night, or the AC gets so cold that you end up buried under heavy blankets. If you share a bed with someone else, it becomes even trickier because one person is inevitably colder than the other.
REST uses what it calls proprietary Evercool® fabric technology, paired with a blend of TENCEL™ and Sorona® filling. It somehow manages to sit right in the middle of those extremes. In practical terms, what I actually experienced was a comforter that didn’t trap heat the way many traditional comforters do. I’m a naturally warm sleeper, particularly around my shoulders and legs, which usually means I spend most nights in a constant cycle of kicking the comforter off only to pull it back on an hour later because the AC suddenly starts feeling unbearably cold.
That’s where the Evercool Comforter really worked for me. Even with the AC on full blast, I never felt like I needed to pile on extra layers to warm up again while maintaining a cool, freshness throughout the night without ever tipping into discomfort. What I especially appreciated was that the cooling effect doesn’t disappear after the first few minutes either. Some cooling fabrics feel cold initially, but quickly lose that sensation once your body adjusts. This stayed consistently airy and comfortable throughout the night instead of gradually becoming dense. It also keeps its shape well without flattening unevenly or bunching awkwardly around your legs halfway through the night.
Another noticeable and most welcome difference has been in my quality of sleep. My sleep patterns were frustratingly sporadic, I’d wake up multiple times during the night. Since switching to this comforter, my sleep has become markedly more restful and consistent. Those unpredictable, sporadic awakenings have nearly vanished and I’m actually sleeping through the night and waking up feeling much more refreshed than in the past.
The comforter has lighter construction than most others I’ve used. Most duvets and blankets look plush and inviting but can feel stifling or overly heavy once you’re under them. The EvercoolComforter, on the other hand, is far more breathable, yet it still delivers that enveloping, cocoon like comfort you expect from quality bedding.

It’s also surprisingly aesthetic for something that’s so functionality-focused. Mine is in the shade Lavender Breeze, which adds a soft muted pop of colour to the room. It pairs really well with neutral bedding and gives the bed a cleaner, calmer look overall. REST offers multiple beautiful shades, including Aqua Blue and Midnight Blue, both of which I’ve already been eyeing and I’m tempted to get next.
An unexpected facet of using the comforter is how obsessed my cats are with it. The second the comforter is laid out on the bed, they immediately gravitate towards it. They’ve started curling up beside me far more often at night, which says a lot considering how quickly cats reject fabrics or textures they don’t like.
From a practical standpoint, the comforter is also hypoallergenic, machine washable and OEKO-TEX® certified, which means the materials are tested against harmful substances. That matters because good bedding should be easy to maintain, not something that’s too delicate to use regularly.
After two weeks of nightly use I think what I like the most is that it feels designed for practical usage rather than just marketing claims. Nothing about it feels exaggerated or gimmicky.
In a place like the UAE, where your sleep environment is constantly affected by heat, air conditioning and changing room temperatures, finding bedding that actually feels comfortable throughout the night makes more of a difference than you would expect.
