The Fragrance Edit! What’s New and Noteworthy

From new interpretations of familiar materials to a major moment for Dubai’s fragrance industry, there is plenty happening in scent right now. Here are six stories on our radar.

Rasasi Opens Its Archives for Kenz De Rasasi

Fragrance

One of Dubai’s most established fragrance names is ringing in a new chapter. Rasasi Perfumes will officially unveil Kenz De Rasasi at Beautyworld Middle East on October 6, introducing a contemporary luxury fragrance house built from the company’s existing heritage.

Kenz means “treasure” in Arabic, giving the name its meaning of “The Treasures of Rasasi”. The concept sees selected creations from Rasasi’s past reconsidered for a new generation, with the fragrances, formulations, bottles and packaging all reworked rather than simply reproduced.

Kenz De Rasasi will introduce eight fragrance collections at Beautyworld, marking the first time the new house and its full fragrance universe will be presented to the international industry. Bollywood actor Salman Khan will join Rasasi owner and AAR Group chairman Anis Abdul Razzak for the official unveiling.

L’Occitane Explores a New Side of Provence

L’Occitane en Provence is moving deeper into woody perfumery with three new fragrances inspired by the landscape and raw materials of Haute-Provence. Noisetier Crémeux, Chêne Minéral and Safran Boisé each approach wood from a different direction, moving between gourmand, mineral and spicy territory.

Noisetier Crémeux takes the most gourmand route, pairing roasted hazelnut and hazel wood accords with vanilla planifolia extract. Green facets run through the creamier notes, giving the fragrance some freshness against its nutty warmth.

Chêne Minéral looks to oak and stone, bringing a sea salt accord together with oak wood and ambrette seed extracts, with fig nuances running through its woody musk profile. Safran Boisé heads in a warmer direction, combining saffron infusion with fir balsam, sandalwood and myrrh for a woody amber composition centred on spice and resin.

Kajal Turns Pure Gold Into Fragrance With Äican

Kajal Perfumes Paris looks to gold for Äican, an Eau de Parfum whose name refers to completely pure gold in Arabic tradition. The fragrance opens with passion fruit, pineapple and mandarin before black pepper, jasmine and ginger bring spice and florals into the heart. Vanilla, patchouli, vetiver, praline, amber, musk and sandalwood form its richer base.

The story continues on the bottle. Its cap features an eight-point star inspired by a 13th-century stone-paste tile from Ilkhanid Iran. The motif has been reworked by hand and engraved with eight words for gold, including Dahab, Äican, Tibr and Ibriz. The house also plays on the similarity between Äican and the words “I can”, connecting the fragrance to its wider theme of self-belief.

ROJA London Deepens Elysium With Absolue

ROJA London has introduced Elysium Absolue, the latest and most concentrated expression of Elysium Pour Femme.

Rose sits at the centre, surrounded by fruit and amber. Fig, lychee, raspberry and cassis open the fragrance before a honeyed rose emerges with ylang-ylang, neroli and tuberose. The base brings considerably more depth through sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, orris butter, benzoin, ambergris and musks.

The bottle gets its own update for Absolue. Inspired by sunset, the triple-polished glass moves from vivid pink into Elysium blue and is finished with an iridescent crystal cap that shifts through shades of pink as it catches the light.

Swiss Arabian Takes Oud Out to Sea

Swiss Arabian is giving one of the region’s defining fragrance materials an aquatic treatment with Shaghaf Oud Marine, a new composition by perfumer Jordi Fernández.

The marine woody fragrance opens with sea notes, Italian bergamot and black pepper, creating a fresher introduction to oud than its usual smoky, resinous or gourmand surroundings. Geranium and contemporary floral notes form the heart before cypriol, Akigalawood, amber and an oud accord bring the composition back into deeper woody territory.

The contrast is the point here. By placing oud against salt, citrus and marine notes, Swiss Arabian takes a material closely associated with warmth and density into a cooler register. Shaghaf Oud Marine is currently available in the UAE as a 75ml fragrance, priced at AED 240.
