Urban Jurgensen Just Relaunched with Six-Figure Timepieces

The 250-year-old watch brand makes a comeback with three new watches, ushering in a new era for Urban Jurgensen.

In the world of horology, few brands are as revered by serious collectors as Urban Jürgensen.

Founded in 1773 by Jürgen Jürgensen, the Danish-Swiss watchmaker rose to prominence under the leadership of his son, Urban, who introduced a new era of innovation and craftsmanship.

In 2021, the brand was acquired by the Rosenfield family, who pledged to revive its legacy and restore it to its storied pedestal.

Andrew Rosenfield—also President of Guggenheim Partners—joined forces with his son Alex and legendary watchmaker Kari Voutilainen to breathe new life into the brand.

The trio has unveiled three new timepieces to mark the relaunch in June 2025. “Since the 18th century, when Urban himself led the company, Urban Jürgensen has stood for the pursuit of horological excellence in both engineering and aesthetics.

To return now, and to shape its next era with the same care that defined its past, is both a joy and a duty. We are creating watches that honour time and, through hand-making and finishing, have a soul,” Voutilainen said in a statement.

The three watches that mark the relaunch draw design and aesthetic inspiration from classic Urban Jürgensen models. At first glance, they may appear understated, but true connoisseurs will appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship and intricate complications.

Each piece features a textured base created by hand-guilloché dials, while open case backs reveal the true beauty of the timepieces—their movements.

The collection includes the UJ1, UJ2, and UJ3. The UJ1 is available in a platinum case with a silver-grey dial, and also in gold with a silver dial. Limited to just 25 pieces, the UJ1 is priced at $448,663.

The UJ1 is considered the crown jewel of the relaunch. For Urban Jürgensen enthusiasts and collectors alike, it evokes a sense of familiarity.

It is a modern reimagining of the brand’s legendary Prat Oval Pocket Watch. Using the same traditional watchmaking techniques, the movement has been miniaturised and adapted to create the UJ1.

The UJ2, powered by a double balance wheel escapement, is priced at $128,000. Meanwhile, the UJ3 features a perpetual calendar and an instantaneous moonphase complication, retailing at approximately $204,834.
