In a striking celebration of horological artistry and cutting-edge engineering, Ulysse Nardin has unveiled the Freak X Gold Enamel – a limited-edition timepiece that redefines luxury watchmaking. Limited to just 120 pieces worldwide, this latest creation from the avant-garde Freak collection is the ultimate fusion of futuristic design and centuries-old craftsmanship.
A First for the Freak X
The Freak X Gold Enamel marks a significant milestone for the Swiss watchmaker: it is the first time an enamel hour disc has been featured on a Freak X model. The disc, crafted from 22-carat rose gold, is adorned with a deep blue guilloché-flinqué pattern and coated in layers of radiant enamel. The result is a mesmerising sunray motif that shimmers with depth and intensity.

Executed by Donzé Cadrans – Ulysse Nardin’s in-house enamelling atelier renowned for preserving the ancient art of enamelling – each disc undergoes a meticulous eight-hour process. This involves multiple firings at temperatures around 800°C to ensure a flawless finish, making each piece unique.
Mechanics Meets Visual Drama
True to the Freak legacy, the Gold Enamel edition defies traditional watchmaking conventions. There are no hands, no dial, and no crown. Instead, time is displayed via a “flying carousel” movement, where the entire movement rotates once per hour to indicate the minutes, while a pointer on the rotating disc marks the hours. The movement appears to float above the enamel disc, creating a dramatic, almost hypnotic effect.
Design That Dares to Stand Out
Housed in a 43mm blue PVD titanium case with rose gold accents, the watch presents a bold contrast that enhances its visual allure. A blue alligator strap with rose gold stitching completes the look, reinforcing the timepiece’s luxurious yet contemporary aesthetic. Despite its artistic flair, the Freak X Gold Enamel is built for everyday wear, offering a 72-hour power reserve and water resistance up to 50 metres.

Only 120 pieces of the Freak X Gold Enamel will be produced, each priced at $48,500. This exclusive and exquisite timepiece tells a story of innovation, tradition, and Ulysse Nardin’s relentless pursuit of beauty.
