Sheraton Grand Doha Review: The Best Five-Star Business Hotel on the Corniche

Discover why the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel is Doha’s top five-star stay for business travellers, with sea views, luxury rooms, and world-class service.

A Doha Icon Reimagined

In my humble opinion, few hotels in the Middle East are as instantly recognisable as the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel. Its pyramid-shaped silhouette has graced the Doha skyline since the 1980s, standing proudly at the edge of the Corniche. I stayed here for a week at the end of October and, while the hotel’s legacy is impressive, it is the lived-in warmth and flawless hospitality that make it unforgettable.

The Lobby

Some hotels make an entrance by dazzling you. The Sheraton Grand Doha wins you over more quietly. The first thing I noticed was not the huge, sweeping marble staircase or the glittering chandelier overhead but the calm. The kind of calm that softens your shoulders after a long flight. The lobby is massive and expansive, yet it never feels intimidating. It has a sense of grandeur, yes, but also warmth – a space that feels both timeless and alive, where you can pause and take in the architecture without feeling lost in it.

Walking across the wide marble floors, I noticed little pockets of intimacy tucked into the expanse: low sofas angled for conversation, a lounge area glowing with soft light, and a few palms breaking up the openness. These details make the lobby feel human, despite its huge scale.

The staff greet you with easy warmth. Someone took my bag, another offered cold water, and by the time I had signed the forms, my room key was ready. The same receptionist remembered my name the next morning, a small gesture that set the tone for the rest of the week. Even in such a large, sweeping space, the service feels personal, intuitive, and effortless.

Facilities That Balance Work and Leisure

If you are in Doha on business, this hotel makes everything feel easy. The conference and meeting facilities are spacious but flexible, with fast Wi-Fi, smart screens, and staff who appear just when needed. The business centre feels more like a private study than a corporate space, and even the executive lounge is designed with focus in mind.

What sets the Sheraton Grand Doha apart is how easily it shifts from work to rest. Step outside and there are palm-lined gardens, a private beach, and an outdoor pool with views over the Arabian Gulf. The fitness club is excellent, clean and modern, with trainers who offer genuinely helpful advice. Morning jogs along the Corniche became my ritual, followed by fresh juice and a towel waiting at the pool, small touches that quietly elevate the day.

Dining at Sheraton Grand Doha

Breakfast at Al Hubara quickly became my daily ritual. The buffet is vast and impressive, offering Arabic mezze, local honey, fresh pastries and made-to-order eggs. By my third morning the chef already knew my egg preference, a small sign that this stay was going to be relaxed and personal.

The hotel offers many dining options, meaning there is something for every mood and schedule. Some highlights include:

  • Jamavar – an elevated Indian fine-dining restaurant showcasing dishes from across India in an elegant setting.
  • Nusr-Et Steakhouse – perfect for those who want a hearty grilled meal in a lively atmosphere.
  • Lucia’s Doha – Italian cuisine served on a terrace by the sea, ideal for a relaxed evening dinner.
  • Al Sultan Brahim – specialises in Lebanese cuisine and fresh seafood, with sweeping views of the Corniche.

Evenings at the hotel offered new flavours and moods. I returned to the terrace at Lucia’s for alfresco Italian dishes while watching the Gulf stretch beyond the city lights. On nights I preferred staying in, room service did not disappoint, arriving hot, on time and beautifully presented. With all these options, the hotel offers genuine variety and quality without pretension, making it easy to enjoy every meal of the day.

The Ambience

The rhythm of the hotel mirrors the rhythm of the city. Mornings have a purposeful buzz: business travellers with laptops and coffee, conversations in quiet corners. By the afternoon, the pace slows: the pool sparkles, the sea glows, and guests drift towards leisure. In the evening, a pianist often plays softly in the lounge, and the lights take on a warm glow.

What makes the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel stand out is its intuitive service. Staff seem to know when to appear, when to step back, and when to simply let you be. It is attentiveness that feels effortless, rare even among five-star hotels in Doha.

The Rooms

My Deluxe Sea View Room became my sanctuary for the week. Spacious, quiet, and full of natural light, it was designed for work and rest. The desk faced the sea, making emails more bearable, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable with crisp linen.

Each evening I would step out onto the balcony and watch the skyline shimmer across the bay. The view made even late-night work feel calm. The room was always fresh and orderly, with every small detail taken care of, giving a sense of calm efficiency that matters on a work trip.

The Verdict

By the end of the week, I understood why the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel remains a favourite in Qatar. It is not just the architecture or the amenities but the seamless blend of professionalism and warmth.

For business travellers, this hotel is ideal. Meetings can be held in purpose-built spaces, work can continue without interruption, and there is always a quiet moment to pause by the sea.

The Sheraton Grand Doha is one of the best five-star hotels in Doha for business travellers, offering comfort, calm, and effortless service on the Corniche.
