Dubai Opera will host an unforgettable ballet and fashion event on 8 March 2026, as MODANSE, presented by M Premiere and MuzArts, takes to the stage for a one night only performance in Dubai. Starring internationally acclaimed prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova alongside leading dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet, this rare double bill brings together world class ballet, haute couture and contemporary theatre in one spectacular evening.
This will be the only performance of MODANSE in 2026 and possibly the final opportunity to experience this production live.
A Unique Fusion of Ballet and Haute Couture
The MODANSE double bill blends movement, music and fashion in a visually stunning theatrical experience. The second act, Gabrielle Chanel, pays tribute to the life and legacy of the iconic French fashion designer who transformed 20th century womenswear. Through expressive choreography, dramatic storytelling and bespoke couture costumes, the ballet captures Chanel’s passion for freedom, beauty and creative independence.
The production is choreographed by Yury Possokhov, with original music by Ilya Demutsky and direction by Alexei Frandetti. Under the artistic direction of Virginie Viard, CHANEL’s Fashion Studio created more than 85 bespoke costumes exclusively for this ballet, reflecting the House’s timeless elegance and craftsmanship.
Gabrielle Chanel explores the legendary designer’s personal and creative journey, including her deep connection to dance, art and self expression. The ballet reflects Chanel’s belief in freedom of movement and beauty as a form of empowerment. Through powerful choreography and theatrical storytelling, the audience is invited into key moments of her life, relationships and creative breakthroughs.

MODANSE was created by MuzArts specifically for Svetlana Zakharova and premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow on 22 June 2019. The production showcases the exceptional collaboration between leading choreographers, composers, costume designers and performers, resulting in a bold and visually striking ballet experience that continues to captivate international audiences.
