Chopard’s Latest Watches Pay Homage to the Mille Miglia

If you’ve been following Zenith’s watch coverage recently, you’ll no doubt have noticed that 2025 is shaping up to be the year watches pay tribute to motorsport. In the latest nod to the racing world, Swiss watchmaker Chopard has unveiled two new timepieces honouring the Mille Miglia, the iconic Italian endurance race.

These watches commemorate Chopard’s return as the official timekeeper and global sponsor of the renowned Italian rally.

Chopard and the Mille Miglia share a long and storied history, beginning with Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Chopard’s Co-President, who first entered the rally in 1988. Alongside his co-driver Jacky Ickx, six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Scheufele raced in his 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. To mark the renewed partnership, the duo is reportedly set to participate in this year’s race, competing against other classic car enthusiasts in a multi-day event.

In celebration of this collaboration, Chopard is releasing two editions of the 2025 Mille Miglia watch as drivers take to the track in Brescia.

The first timepiece, named the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Tribute to Sir Stirling Moss, commemorates Moss’s legendary 1955 victory. Moss, with co-driver Denis Jenkinson, completed the race in a record time of 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds. During the 1,000-mile rally, the pair achieved an average speed of 97.96 mph—a record that still stands today.

“As a long-time participant in the Mille Miglia, I felt it was only fitting to honour such a legendary drive with an equally exceptional timepiece,” Scheufele said in a statement.

The 40.5mm chronograph is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement with a 54-hour power reserve. Its dial pays homage to the matte silver hue of Moss’s Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, the car he drove to victory in 1955. the Swiss watchmaker will release just 70 pieces of this watch to mark the 70th anniversary of Moss’s triumph.

Chopard

The second timepiece in the collection is the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control – 2025 Race Edition. This 43mm watch is the latest addition to Chopard’s Grand Turismo Sport range, showcasing the evolution of the line. Crafted from Chopard’s proprietary Lucent Steel, the watch features a salmon-coloured dial with a satin finish, which, according to the brand, evokes “historical aluminium bodywork and painted metal dashboards.” It boasts a 60-hour power reserve and will be limited to 250 pieces.
