Sexy Fish Kanso Business Lunch Is the Indulgence You Didn’t Know You Needed

What can I say about Sexy Fish that hasn’t already been said? The views? Spectacular. The food? Chef’s kiss. And the interiors? Calling them “stunning” would be a grave understatement.

First Impressions

What can I say about Sexy Fish that hasn’t already been said? The views? Spectacular. The food? Chef’s kiss. And the interiors? Calling them “stunning” would be a grave understatement. I mean, have you ever heard of a restaurant where people queue up for photoshoots in the bathroom? Yes, the very same Insta-famous bathroom. It’s pretty much a social media landmark at this point.

You get there via a private lift tucked into DIFC’s Innovation Step out, pass through the reception backed by a glowing coral reef wall, and then, there it is.

A metallic ocean dreamscape? A maximalist seafood wonderland? I’m still debating.

The restaurant opens up into what can only be described as a deep-sea fever dream: Damien Hirst sculptures, jewel tones, metallic finishes, and a floor that shimmers and feels like you’re gliding on water. I spent a good five minutes spinning in circles, taking in the view before I remembered I was there to eat.

The Meal

I went in to try the Kanso Business Lunch, which was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. For AED 158, it kicks off with a detox shot and creamy edamame hummus, then moves into two starters and a main. It’s the kind of meal that feels indulgent but leaves you light enough to keep functioning post-lunch, a rare balance.

I went with a plus one and between us, we ordered the Salmon Tataki with Shiso Ponzu, Prawn Gyoza with Ginger Dressing, Black Cod Croquettes, and Rock Shrimp Tempura with Yuzu Mayo.

The salmon tataki was silky and refreshing, the gyoza delivered the perfect gingery punch, and the croquettes? Absolute melt-in-your-mouth magic. Crisp on the outside, delicate and rich on the inside.

For mains, we went with the Baby Chicken in Herb Miso and Salmon Teriyaki with Pickled Cucumbers, both served with sticky rice. They were incredibly flavourful, well-balanced, and perfectly portioned.

The place is surprisingly buzzy for midday, with tables full of all sorts of diners, working business types, solo guests, and groups of friends.

Stay for Dessert. Trust Me

Although not a part of the business lunch menu, I would be committing a crime if I didn’t highly recommend ordering the chocolate coffee delice and the peach mocktail, both of which have haunted my dreams ever since.

The chocolate coffee delice was layered with deep chocolate richness, subtle coffee bitterness, and a zingy mango curd that pulled it all together. The mocktail was a sparkling mix of caramelised peach, jasmine, and white peach soda that genuinely made me question why I don’t order more mocktails on purpose.

The Verdict

Would I come back? Let’s just say I’m actively looking to talk to someone about reserving a table there permanently, you know, for those work-from-home days.
