A Mediterranean Masterpiece at The Lana by Dorchester Collection
There’s something rather magical about dining at Riviera by Jean Imbert – the sort of place where the Mediterranean charm collides with Dubai’s glittering skyline. Perched in the opulent The Lana by Dorchester Collection, Riviera by Jean Imbert is a proper escape to the South of France, minus the airfare.
The Ambience
Walking in, you’re immediately struck by the effortless elegance – soft creams, nautical blues, and those floor-to-ceiling windows framing Dubai’s skyline like a living postcard. But the real magic happens on the terrace. Overlooking Marasi Bay Marina, it’s all bobbing yachts and golden-hour light, transforming into a twinkling spectacle by night. Whether you’re here for a long lunch or a romantic dinner, the vibe toes the line between polished and properly relaxed – the sort of place where you could happily linger for hours.

Service With a Smile (And Then Some)
What really makes the venue stand out is how they’ve nailed that tricky balance between flawless service and genuine warmth. Take Jose, our waiter – the man’s a walking menu encyclopedia with the charm of a seasoned host. His recommendations were spot-on, and he had an almost psychic knack for timing courses just right. It’s this sort of thoughtful touch – remembering how you like your water, explaining dishes without sounding rehearsed – that turns a great meal into a proper occasion.

The Food
Jean Imbert’s menu is like a greatest hit of Mediterranean flavours, all given that signature French polish. We started with the toasted focaccia with green beans and pistachio pesto – an unexpected combo that just works, the pesto’s richness cut through by those crisp beans. Then came Jean’s avocado, the dish that proves simplicity is anything but basic. At first glance, it’s just an avocado—until you cut into it and discover the hidden treasure: a silky confit egg yolk, swathed in vibrant caponata and red pesto, with baby spinach lending a fresh counterpoint. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite and think, Now this is clever cooking. The carabineros spaghetti arrived in all its crimson glory, those sweet Spanish prawns singing alongside a subtle chili kick. Equally impressive was the tuna plancha – perfectly seared, with the peppery punch of arugula pesto and salty Niçoise olives keeping things interesting. Their mocktails deserve a shout-out too. The Riviera Sparkles (Wild Idol Brut with peach-jasmine soda) is dangerously easy drinking, while Le Sud – a fragrant mix of blueberries, basil and lavender – tastes like summer in a glass. Perfect for toasting as those marina lights come up.

The Verdict
Riviera gets that rare combination just right – food that impresses without trying too hard, service that’s polished but never stiff, and a setting that’s glamorous yet relaxed. Whether it’s a special occasion or just treating yourself, this is one of those places that reminds you why Dubai’s dining scene is so thrilling.
