Exploring the Hotel

Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar

Tucked into the dramatic cliffs of Oman’s Green Mountain, Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar is not just a resort – it’s a sensory escape into authentic Omani culture, curated design, and mindful luxury. Part of the boutique IHG collection, this mountain-side sanctuary blends local heritage with modern flair, offering guests a truly elevated experience.

Upon arrival, you’re greeted by sweeping views of the surrounding Hajar Mountains, their rose-hued cliffs changing colour with the light.

The architecture honours the region’s traditions – stonework, natural materials, and decorative details inspired by nearby villages – while the design feels fresh, creative, and intentional.

The lobby is open-air, infused with mountain breezes and warm hospitality.

Everything here feels relaxed yet refined, and you’re immediately struck by how different this property is from your typical luxury resort.

One Bedroom Suite at Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar

Luxury reaches new heights, literally, in the One Bedroom Suite at Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar, where modern design meets authentic Omani artistry in a setting of breathtaking mountain serenity.

Spanning approximately 123 square metres, this expansive suite offers a private sanctuary for guests seeking space, style, and complete relaxation

Suite Features:
  • Elegant Bathroom: The luxurious bathroom features a freestanding deep soaking tub, separate rainfall shower, twin vanities, plush robes, slippers, and locally inspired spa-grade amenities. Every element is designed to elevate your unwind routine.
  • Master Bedroom: A plush king-sized bed dressed in crisp, high-thread-count linens is the centrepiece of this serene space. The room’s design is inspired by local village textures and patterns, with carefully chosen art and furnishings that reflect the soul of Jabal Akhdar.
  • Separate Living & Dining Areas: The suite offers generous living and dining spaces, perfect for winding down or hosting in-room meals. Natural light floods in through floor-to-ceiling windows, framing uninterrupted views of the dramatic canyon below.
  • Private Balcony with Plunge Pool: step out onto your furnished private balcony and discover your own plunge pool, perched at the edge of the mountain. It’s the ultimate indulgence — enjoy a morning dip with sunrise views or relax at sunset with the cliffs bathed in golden light. Overlooking Sayq village’s terraced rooftops, this balcony is an unforgettable vantage point.

This suite is ideal for couples, honeymooners, or solo travellers craving both luxury and privacy.

The combination of dramatic views, a private plunge pool, spacious interiors, and thoughtful Omani details makes it one of the most sought-after accommodations in the mountains of Oman.

The Food

Dining at Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar is a journey in itself. The hotel’s main restaurant, Za’atar, reinterprets traditional Omani and Levantine dishes with a modern twist. Think grilled meats marinated in fragrant spices, saffron-infused rice, fresh flatbreads, and inventive vegetarian options using regional ingredients like dates, labneh, and rose.

The daily breakfast spread is expansive – with fresh fruit, Middle Eastern staples, and made-to-order omelettes. One morning, we enjoyed a floating breakfast served in our private plunge pool – a novelty that lived up to the hype.

For lighter bites and local teas, Café Wadi Habib offers an intimate and charming setting, where you can sip Camelia tea and enjoy homemade pastries with sweeping mountain views.

The Vue Rooftop & Lounge, however, is the crown jewel. Perched high on the edge of the cliffs, it’s the perfect place for sunset drinks and stargazing dinners. Every evening feels like a special occasion, and the vibe is chilled yet sophisticated.

Wellness & Spa

If you’re seeking rest and renewal, Jala Spa & Wellness is a must-visit. This serene sanctuary offers a range of treatments inspired by local rituals, using essential oils and natural elements from the mountains. I tried a deep tissue massage followed by a frankincense facial – pure bliss.

What sets the wellness offering apart, though, is its integration into the hotel’s ethos.

There’s a dedicated Wellness Studio for guided yoga and meditation – including signature sessions like Yoga for Good Sleep and Sound Healing experiences that left us feeling deeply grounded.

Even the main infinity pool, with its dramatic cliffside views, contributes to the restorative atmosphere. Surrounded by silence, fresh air, and distant bird calls, it’s hard not to unwind.

Service & Amenities

The team at Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar deserve special mention. Staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely proud to share their culture and region with guests. From restaurant servers offering tips on local dishes to spa staff tailoring treatments to your mood, the service feels personal without being intrusive.

The hotel also offers curated cultural experiences, from guided walks through mountain villages to rose distillery visits in season. There’s a well-stocked boutique with artisanal crafts and a library filled with regional art and photography.

Fast Wi-Fi, in-room espresso machines, 24-hour room service, and environmentally conscious initiatives (like glass water bottles and solar-powered heating) round out a thoughtful guest offering.

Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar is a rare find – a boutique hotel with soul, style, and substance. It delivers luxury without excess, design without pretension, and cultural immersion without compromising comfort. Whether you’re after a romantic retreat, a wellness-focused escape, or a base for high-altitude adventures, this resort delivers all that and more.

A hidden mountain gem that’s anything but ordinary – book it before the secret gets out.
