Review: LPM Abu Dhabi Maintains Its Crown As One Of The Capital’s Finest Gulinary Gems

Widely declared to be one of, or even THE best restaurant in Abu Dhabi, Le Petite Maison (more commonly known as LPM) is so popular it barely requires an introduction.

Situated on the waterfront promenade by The Galleria Mall, where it rubs shoulders with other fine-dining heavyweights like COYA and Zuma, it remains one of the ultimate ‘places to be seen’ in the city.

The Venue

Recently renovated, the chic dining room, bar, and terrace have been elevated to the next level of elegance.

Sophisticated and stylish, the classic white tablecloths, cosy leather booths, and clean colour palette contrast beautifully with the vibrant contemporary artworks that litter the walls.

Meanwhile, the terrace genuinely makes you feel like you’ve been transported to the French Riveria.

Adorned with grand stone fountains, fresh lavender in terracotta pots, and Mediterranean-style shutters, it makes a refreshing change to the over-the-top glamour of some other high-end establishments.

Bringing a pop of colour to the space, the vibrant bar then comes alive every evening with professionals and loved ones gathering to

celebrate the day. Finished with bright red stools and high tables, the cocktail menu spans all kinds of unique and interesting creations, including one that literally levitates into the air due to its clever magnetic stand.

The Food Highlights

Given its Michelin Guide-recommended status and prestigious reputation, we expect the portions to be more light and dainty, rather than hearty and filling.

In reality, it strikes the perfect balance between the two.

Starting with the sweetcorn salad, calamari, and burrata with tomatoes, the latter is without a doubt the creamiest and most delicious soft Italian cheese we’ve ever sampled.

All served in generous portions, everything tastes amazingly fresh and expertly made.

There are so many wonderful options to choose from, it takes us a good while to then decide on our mains.

We eventually settle on sharing the salt-baked sea bass with asparagus, and the rib eye steak. The latter is almost too big for one to possibly eat, while the meaty white fish is flawless.

Paired with sides of perfectly cooked broccolini, and irresistibly decadent potato gratin, it’s a masterful demonstration of why the best dishes are sometimes the simplest.

Pleasurably free from foam, dry ice, and unnecessary adornments, the kitchen team’s sensational culinary skills and premium ingredients are free to shine through clearly.

If you fancy a tipple, there’s basically a whole encyclopedia of grapes to choose from, including natural, organic and exclusive varieties from Europe’s most coveted vineyards.

Finally, proving why few countries are more famed for their sweets and pastries than France, saving room for dessert is simply a must, too.

Once again big enough to share, the crème brûlée provides an enticing contrast of silky custard and crispy topping, while the vanilla cheesecake is another timeless example of why you can never beat the classics.

The Verdict

Ideal for date nights and special occasions, LPM somehow manages to be special and exclusive, without being overly posey or superficial.

Specialising in traditional French and Mediterranean recipes made with the world’s finest ingredients, it’s a concept that will never go out of style, and Abu Dhabi’s dining scene is all the better for it.
