Tried and tested: Under Armour’s Infinite Elite 2 running shoe

While many big brands prefer to launch new products on home turf, USA-founded Under Armour (UA) chose to unveil its Infinite Elite 2 running shoe with a three-day event in Dubai.

And this lucky The Zenith writer was lucky enough to be a part of it…

Reflecting Dubai’s status as one of the world’s fastest growing health and fitness hubs, the event featured talks from UA footwear experts and running coaches, and a special guest appearance from professional British-Australian 1,500m runner Adam Fogg.

Offering an interactive experience that was far more engaging than your average fashion line launch, I didn’t just get to have a first look at the new shoes and clothing range. I also got to test them out too.

Taking over Kite Beach

As an avid runner (and also one that suffers from constant blisters) I have tried every brand of running shoe you can imagine. But this was my first time trying out Under Armour’s run-specific footwear, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect.

While I do own several much-loved Under Armour products, they’re all clothing rather than shoes, and I was a bit skeptical about whether the shoes would live up to my own ones at home.

However, I was very pleasantly surprised.

Gathering on Kite Beach with 50 other UA-kitted out media, influencers, and athletes, we looked like a very well-dressed running club, and we even got a few questions from passersby about who we were and how they could join, too.

While I was a bit nervous about running alongside a professional runner, as soon as we set off on our 7km route I was amazed by how bouncy and soft the shoes were. It made running feel almost effortless, and there wasn’t even the smallest sign of rubbing or discomfort throughout.

Fitted with a high-tech foam sole and made with light and durable materials, the shoe is specifically designed for long runs and regular usage.

Comfortable yet stylish, I now can’t go back to any other running shoe brand.

The clothing was equally as practical and flattering. My search for the perfect running bra is just as ongoing as my search for the perfect shoe, and I loved how the UA Infinity 2 high-impact sports bra offered maximum support and minimal bounce, while the bright colours of the form-fitting leggings and top meshed together beautifully.

You can expect to see me wearing them on all my regular runs from now on.

A growing running collection

UA’s running collection, and its reputation as an esteemed running brand, is growing with each passing year.

Used by an increasing number of professional and amateur athletes, elite runner Adam Fogg, said: “Shoes are definitely the most important bit of kit for runners, and the Infinite Elite 2 plays such a key part in my training. I cover a lot of mileage every week, and they are perfect for my requirements.

“Almost every day I’m either running in the Infinite Elite 2 or the Infinite Pro. Compared to the Infinite Elite 1, you can feel a massive difference in the weight and the cushioning, and they genuinely do make you feel like you can just keep on running forever.”

The UA Infinite Elite 2 is priced AED 799. To view the full UA running collection visit underarmour.ae/en/sports/running.
