UAE Showcases Global Sustainability Leadership with ‘One World. One Family.’ Exhibition at Expo City Dubai During COP28

As the world’s leaders gather in Dubai for the pivotal COP28 conference, a transformative exhibition, “One World. One Family.,” debuts in the Slovenian Pavilion at Expo City Dubai, epitomizing the United Arab Emirates’ dedication to sustainable living. This groundbreaking collaboration between Knauf Insulation’s Living with a Green Heart initiative and the Hamdan Bin Mohamed Heritage Center, offers more than just dialogue on sustainability—it’s a holistic immersion into the essence of harmonious coexistence with our planet.

Guided by the insightful traveler and author Saša Božič, the exhibition takes visitors on a spellbinding multimedia tour across 11 regions, delving deep into the heart of indigenous tribal life. This interactive experience beckons attendees to engage in introspection, connecting personally with the wisdom of ancient tribes. A unique visual element, where photos are set behind reflective glass, allows visitors to see themselves mirrored in the lives of these tribal communities, fostering a profound sense of connection and unity.

This tranquil, meditative space, encased in black walls that evoke the depths of the earth, creates an environment where the external world fades away, allowing a deep interconnectedness to flourish. The message is clear and powerful: “We are all connected.” This transformative journey promises to leave an indelible mark on all who venture through it.

The exhibition’s final fortnight shines a spotlight on the sustainability wisdom of the UAE and Indonesia/Bali, showcasing their indigenous practices outside the formal confines of COP28.

UAE Week (November 27 – December 3, 2023) focuses on the intertwining of heritage and modernity in the UAE. A special event on November 29, led by H.E. Abdullah bin Dalmook, CEO of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, delves into the evolution of the UAE’s sustainability practices, tracing its roots from Bedouin traditions to the modern day.

A storytelling workshop on November 28 with Enas Hamdy promises a unique blend of traditional desert tales and contemporary environmental insights, focusing on “The Tales of the Desert and Modern Camel Tracking.”

Indonesia/Bali Week (December 4 – December 10, 2023) explores the concepts of circular economy and Bali’s revered water distribution practices. A December 7 event offers an insightful journey into Bali’s sustainable practices and ancient water management systems.

Sessions of mindful relaxation and yoga & meditation with Balinese Priestess Luh Manis on December 6 and 8, respectively, provide a serene exploration of Balinese healing traditions, offering a tranquil respite in a natural setting.

This exhibition not only celebrates the diversity of our world but also reinforces the message of unity and shared responsibility towards our planet, resonating deeply with the core themes of COP28. It’s a vivid reminder that sustainability is not just a policy or a practice, but a lived experience, deeply rooted in the fabric of cultures across the globe.
