Since announcing its revival earlier this year, Mains has been gradually building anticipation through Instagram, casually showcasing pieces worn by notable figures like Central Cee, Corteiz’s Clint, and A$AP Nast.
Fast forward to September 16, and the day finally arrived: Mains’ inaugural runway show took place during London Fashion Week.
Arranged to resemble a tennis court, Mains’ catwalk featured grass-like flooring complete with a tennis net placed in the center. They even had a Mains scoreboard and those distinctive green Mains tennis balls, similar to the ones teased on the brand’s Instagram page.
Some Mains pieces were familiar from previous previews on Mains’ Instagram, while others appeared to have been intentionally saved for their debut at the show. Denim outfits with contrasting stitching and asymmetrical pockets, glossy tracksuits, and oversized orange-tinted sunglasses from the teasers naturally graced the runway.
In addition, shiny Beats by Dre headphones, oversized hats, Mains tennis rackets, and collaborative Timberlands made up the selection of accessories.
PUMA sneakers were abundant, as the footwear brand played a pivotal role in relaunching the label with Skepta. It’s worth noting that Skepta and PUMA are now official partners, so perhaps we can anticipate a future PUMA x Mains shoe collaboration.
Mains also introduced some elegant suits, delectable corduroy pieces, comfortable knitwear, tennis-inspired graphics, supple leather biker outfits, and a range of silhouettes that strike a balance between sport and style. These creations were all crafted by Skepta, Mains’ head designer Mikey Pearce, and Mains’ head graphic designer Johnson Orchid.
Usually, there can be a considerable time gap between a fashion show and the release of the clothing. However, Big Smoke, who is none other than Skepta, is exclusively launching Mains’ collection at Dover Street Market on Sunday, September 17.
